La exjefa del Gabinete Ministerial, Betssy Chavez, pidió al Poder Judicial que ordene el cese del mandato de prisión preventiva por 18 meses que se dictó en su contra por su presunta participación en el fallido golpe de Estado que protagonizó el expresidente Pedro Castillo el 7 de diciembre del 2022.
La defensa legal de Bettsy Chávez basó su pedido en una reciente modificatoria en el artículo 283 del Código Procesal Penal en la que se establece la revisión de un mandato de prisión preventiva cada seis meses a fin de determinar si está medida se mantiene vigente.
Este pedido fue presentado ante el despacho del juez supremo Juan Carlos Checkley, quien programó para el jueves 28 de diciembre a las 10 de la mañana, una audiencia virtual para evaluar este requerimiento con la participación de Betssy Chávez y las demás partes involucradas a fin de emitir una decisión al respecto.
